I have to write this quickly, because I am on the deck with wet hair in the freezing cold and trying to email off a draft of a Statement of Work to my Professor…
Because today was the first day of Eid (sort of like Christmas Day), we had to postpone planse to head to Petra for a Day until tomorrow, so we though maybe it would be a good quick day trip to go to the Dead Sea for a swim. I packed my swimsuit from Canada in a zip lock bag, and as I took it out and slid it over my body I felt the excruciating pain of an awakening bee (Dan thinks it was a wasp, but whatever, it was huge) stinging my leg. Turns out that I had left the swimsuit on the deck before packing it (like, way before), so this dormant wasp/bee had to have been in a drawer in Nanaimo for about a month, then existed in this zip lock for at least three weeks in transit, only to awaken angrily in Amman, Jordan… what are the frigging chances of that?!?!?
It would only happen to a Munday, I swear. I haven’t been stung by a bee since I was like 5.
Anyways, the Dead Sea was a surreal feeling, kind of like all of a sudden coming back in a second life as one of those red and white fishing bobbers. We will definately go again.
So yes, tomorrow bright and early it is off to Petra, an ancient city carved in relief from huge rock faces (very cool), then possibly the desert Wadi Rum, then maybe the more tropical Aquaba where it never gets below 24 degrees… its a bit ambitious, but there is still the Christms and New Years holidays to hit these spots, so there’s lots of time!!
Ohm and here’s a special shout out to my mom, Uncle Gord and Mary for your feedback – at least I know three people are reading these blogs!!
Will write and the end of the week, happy Eid Al Adha!
Ouch… yes only you…. at least it is on the leg and not in the same area as the tick you had one time!
Waiting for the visuals/pictures
