ha ha ha...very cryptic!!
who is DT? he reminds me of this mate - with all the pun intended - that I had in Jordan, the very brass style and spirit of adventure that borders on disregard!!

P.S: do you think they have any fishing stations in Egypt? I also wonder if it's okay to take pictures of sunset there.....

you're right, we should read the comments and of course Isabel should know seeing as it is that she has personally interacted with the middle-east herself and yeah the media has failed in its role as watchdog - there are commercial interests now!!

yes Lindsey, thanks for the diligence and resilience with the message....I have faced the same thing too with people soooo indoctrinated by the Israeli PR machine that they are unwilling to perceive the obvious and of-course it all boils down to familiarity; Israel and it's culture is closer to what we can relate to as opposed to Arabic and of course the "real bad Arabs" mentality doesn't help!!
but at least the guns have gone silent - no need for more Palestinian schools, libraries and hospitals to be demolished - for now but the tragedy is that no one will hold Israel accountable for its genocide and five years down the line we'll at it again...the debate becomes redundant and the world becomes insulated to the shock of more Palestinians dying and after a while it becomes routine and no one really cares!!

Dear Lindsey,

Thank you for posting about this. I have also faced some attacks in recent days, simply for trying to get the word out about the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and how we can help as Canadians.

I have tried to get others to open their eyes to a perspective that is not offered (or often even misreported) in the media here. I've told them about my experience when I visited the West Bank and tried to get them to understand - even if just for a moment - what it is like for a people that have been living under occupation for so many years... and the hopelessness they feel when UN resolutions and international law are continually ignored.

Now my hope is just as you have described: that "the people I care about are smart enough to search for the truth".
BBC did an interview with an ex-Israeli air force captain about a week ago; even as an Israeli he spoke against his government's actions and simply wanted to deliver a message for peace. Sadly this video was pulled from the BBC and was never shown on American or Canadian news networks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI8AyL9Xtpc
Something he said really resonated: "You cannot kill the desire of people to be free."

There is also an organization you may have heard of - Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East. The organization brings together Canadians to build understanding among the Canadian public about the Middle East (including the recent attacks on Gaza), through community outreach, media work, humanitarian efforts, educational events, advocacy... Website: www.cjpme.org. This is another tangible way for Canadians to be involved.

For what it's worth, thank you for the information that you have shared via email. And despite these narrow-minded attacks, thank you for not faltering.

All the best,
Isabel
